Eric Lefkofsky: Dedicated to a Cure, Dedicated to Community

Eric Lefkofsky is the co-founder and CEO of Tempus, a Chicago-based company dedicated to improving patient outcomes in the medical field. The leaders of Tempus believe that every cancer patient can and should benefit from the treatment of others who came before them, and they have a goal of redefining how genome data is used in a clinical setting. The mission statement of the Lefkofsky’s company is to combine genomic sequencing with machine learning in order to help oncologists obtain a clearer understanding of each patient’s unique case.

The Tempus platform would then provide a detailed report, highlighting insights and implications for a patient’s treatment. This would enable doctors to analyze molecular data, combined with the clinical data in the hopes of providing more individualized treatment to each patient. Lefkofsky and his co-founders believe that individual care creates better odds of a positive outcome, rather than using one blanket procedure which may or may not be suitable for each and every patient.

Tempus isn’t Eric Lefkofsky’s only endeavor, however. He is also co-founder and Chairman of the well-known Groupon platform. He is a founding partner of Lightbank, which is a venture fund which invests in what is known as “disruptive technology businesses”.
