Clay Siegall’s Activism and Contribution in the Cancer Research Community

There have been different posts on Dr. Siegall WordPress Page and the most recent once span across various topics. He has posted about emotions, from pleasurable fear to bittersweet relief that resulted to arguments among the psychologists and the Trump’s Announcement on Paris Climate Agreement. He has also spoken about the missile launch on Syria where he was wondering whether using missile as a defense mechanism is really appropriate.

NASA’s launch of eight satellites last December from the Pegasus rocket has also featured on Siegall’s post. He makes it clear that these new satellites can see through heavy rains which were not possible for the previous ones. There small size and the fact that they are not at all expensive warrant an increased number of such satellites in the sky.

Clay Siegall has worked for several companies, the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health from 1988 to 1991. In the period of 1991 to 1997, he moved to the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute. In 1998, Dr. Siegall co-founded the Seattle Genetics, Chief Executive Officer as well as Chairman of Board of Directors. He has experience in therapeutic drug development and cancer research; he got his Ph.D. in Genetics from George Washington University and B.S. in Zoology from the University of Maryland.

Clay Siegall’s role in the cancer research community

Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKlien, Genentech, and AbbVie are some of the drugs that are used in the cancer treatment. Dr. Siegall as a Seattle Genetics entered into licensing of these drugs so as the drugs are allowed to be used for the cancer treatment and research. The Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCS) that he advanced from the older treatments have now been sold worldwide in over 65 countries for treatment.

His leadership style and skills have brought a number of advantages to the Seattle Genetics, the approval of their antibody-based cancer therapies by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. As an expertise in this field, Dr. Siegall has been poached by different companies to assist their activities. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Business Alliance, he is a Board of Governors, The Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association and Alder Biopharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company, serves as Board of Directors.
