ClassDojo has been a success since its inception into the market and has raised millions of dollars. Besides facing competition from other tech companies such as Kickboard, Nearpod, Remind, and FreshGrade, ClassDojo has firmly held its mission of connecting educators to students’ parents. Currently, the app is being used by more than half of private and public schools in the United States, mostly by teachers in kindergarten up to 8th-grade classes. Privacy is of utmost importance to the founders of ClassDojo, they have promised not make revenues from the user’s data. Instead, they plan to add premium features that parents would pay to use. Hemant Taneja, who serves as the Managing Director for the renowned General Catalyst, led the ClassDojo’s Series B round and introduced SignalFire, GSV, and Reach Capital as the new funders of ClassDojo.

According to Businessinsider.com, Sam Chaudhary and Liam Don introduced Class Dojo in 2011. The founders of ClassDojo created the app with the objective of aiding in communication and creating some form of classroom cultures in schools. The tech company that created the app has since then grown because the app is used in most schools and outside the country. It received $31.1 million in the first five rounds from 22 investors and just recently, it received $21 million in the Series B round.

 

Stanford’s Project for Education Research that scales in partnership with ClassDojo has come up with a series of animated videos readily available to teachers. The ability of the app to create videos will greatly aid the teaching process since shy students can now express themselves through ClassDojo. This app is not only a communication platform but also motivates students to focus on achieving their goals.
